Courtney & Matt

My favorite part of getting to know my clients is their engagement sitting. I love to talk to them and find out how they met, what they like to do and most important how they photograph. I feel knowing my client before the wedding is so important. They get a feel for me and how I work. And when the big day arrives they are excited to see me!

Courtney and Matt came in last week or was it the week before? Either way because of the cold we decided to capture their engagements in-doors at my studio. This is one option I love having now that I have my studio. I am so glad we did their engagments for I realized what blinkers they both are! This is going to be a big help on their wedding day.

Anyways...we had a good time. I was happy to see them especially since they booked me about 1 1/2 year ago. It was nice to chit chat and find out how the plans are coming along for the big day June 23!

I'm an M&M!

Mine is funny if you know me cause I have myself drinking...which you all may know margaritas are my fav. And I am also in paradise some where...and once again I am not a beach person for I burn burn burn! So I made myself into a red m&m for 1. it's my fav color and 2. i just burn in the sun ha!

P.S. The turtle is funny cause my brother and I had a pet turtle named T the turtle. He is now living with a friend but I thought I'd have him join me in the pic ha!

We All Have Something Common!

So this past Wednesday night I hosted at my studio the 2nd PUG meeting. For those of you who don't know what PUG is, it is a group of photographers that all belong to Pictage and PUG stands for Pictage User Group. When Justin and Mary first asked me if I would host the meetings initally I was so excited. Finally a group of photographers gettting together and learning from each other. I was stoked. I was ready to start attending the NYC meetings but finally someone decide to start a group here!

So this past Wednesday we had our 2nd meeting and we had 27 photographers! WOW! We doubled our meeting from last month. Brian Khang and Mary spoke about blogging. How important it is to keep our clients up to date on what we are doing. I could not agree with them more! I want everyone to be able to get a sense of who I am and what I do before meeting me. Matthew Wagner spoke about slideshows and even taught me some new things I did not know.

I cannot tell you how great it is to finally have a great group of photographers to hang out with, learn from and make friends from. I cannot wait till our next meeting on March 21st.

Baby on the Way!

Kelly and Tom came in last Saturday for their maternity session. Kelly really wanted to do this session and it was awsome that Tom wanted to be a part of it. I never really noticed how beautiful women are when they are pregnant. They really glow and it such a magical time. Most people won't see it but when I got behind the camera this time I noticed something different. I just can't explain it.

I also think that maternity photographs have so much more meaning when the man is involoved or even children. it brings so much more meaning to the photograph. I had such a hard time figuring out what photos to put up on my blog. This by far has been my favorite maternity shoot. If you CLICK HERE you can see a slideshow of the sitting.

By the way Kelly is due on March 16th! A St Patty's Day baby maybe?

Some Drinking Fun!

Okay so I was downloading photos from my point and shoot and came upon these. About a month ago I went out to dinner at Eastside Resturant in New Britain with Christine and Sean. It is a German resturant with very large beers and great food. They have an acoridion player and for some reason they waitress came out and gave us these hats to wear. I don't know if it was the beer in us or what but we took pictures and kept hysterically laughing.

Pregnant Bellies!

So in the past 2 months I have had the pleasure of photographing 2 women and their bellies! One of them is my bride from this past fall. It was great to have Angela (the fall bride) come back and let me photograph her and her belly. We did some really nice artsy, more artistic photographs and then some fun ones as well. I love when my past clients come back to me. I feel more of a connection and I am really looking forward to meeting this little one on the way.

As for my other client I had such a blast with her and her 2 daughters. She had found out that this child was to be a boy! How exciting for her since she already has 2 girls. I really enjoyed our session. It was nice to have her children part of the session and interact with the belly. This photograph below was one of my favorites.

Thinking Out Of The Box

Okay so I have been really bad at posting latley...more like being lazy. It has been cold and snowy so I have been hibernating inside. But a couple of weeks ago I did this shoot. I love doing materinity and boudior sessions. They are a creative outlet for me. Something out of the box and different. To me boudoir is so sexy. It gives a chance for us women to be someone else for a bit. Be out of our element and feel sexy for a moment. Surprise our husband, boyfriend or partner.

The below photograph is just a sample of my session. If any women are interested
please contact me via email at nikkinicolephoto@yahoo.com.

I Can't Stop Laughing!

As my title of the post I cannot stop laughing at this photograph. It's of Rob at maybe the age of 2 or 3. Nobody seems to know how old he was here. HIs aunt's found this photo at their home and I am cracking up! Who would of known that this photo would tell the future of Rob and the beer he drinks. That's right Rob loves good ole American beer Bud or Miller. HA!

At the Stables

About 2 Saturdays ago, yeah i know I am bad at posting, I went to photograph Lexi and her horse Brick. It was so cold and icy that day we ended up only doing a couple of shots with Brick. After the bitter cold got to us we went to her house and had so much fun indoors. This was really a treat for me. I enjoyed using the natural light coming in from this big bay window. The lighting was so beautiful. Lexi told me half way into the shoot that she is a country singer and some of these shoots she wants to use for her CD cover. How exciting to be 13 and recording an album. Good Luck Lexi!

Kerri & Danny

I am so honored to be a part of Kerri & Danny's wedding. Danny is my friend Tara's brother in-law. And to be chosen as their photographer makes me jump for joy! I feel like I am part of the family now.

Kerri & Danny came in Feb 10th for their engagement photos. We had a blast in my studio. It was so much fun for me because I rarely get to shoot in studio and play with lighting and new backgrounds. Kerri and Danny's wedding is coming up quick on June 30th and the reception is at Lake of Isles on of my favorite place to shoot. Love the grounds, the food and staff.

Below is a link to view their slideshow. ENJOY!

PHOTOGRAPHY FUN!

Last night I hosted the first PUG meeting for CT photographers. PUG is short for pictage user group. In essence it is to get a group of photographers together to share, learn and help each other out. There was a great turn out for our first meeting I believe there was a total of 15 of us. I can already tell that we are all going to be able to learn lots form each other and become great friends. I had a great time hanging out with everyone and looking forward to the next meeting.

I would like to thank Justin and Mary from Imagine-Imaging for leading this group and starting something wonderful.

By the way I am the one sitting on the couch arm in the aqua sweater from the left.

Christmas Eve 2006

Since I have just returned from visitng family and friends over Christmas I am now posting.

Christmas Eve has always been a big deal at my parents house. All the aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents come over and we eat, drink and open presents. One big tradition is all the cousins gather in front of the tv and watch "A Christmas Story" about little Randy. It doesn't seem like christmas without watching that movie. Also every year someone dresses up as santa to hand out all the gifts. This year my mom dressed up. Its really for my little cousins but we all get a kick out of it.

Below are some photos of the family haveing a good time. Even Santa is in a couple!

I'M A BRIDESMAID!

That's right I have been asked to be a bridesmaid. My oldest friend from Junior High School, Karen, is getting married September 2,2007 and has asked me to be by her side on her wedding day! I am so excited and totally surprised. I am also excited to help her in finding all the wedding necessities to make her special day. Thanks Karen for letting me be a part of your special day!
